Hello people,

For those of you who don't know me (wich is probably most of you since it is my first blog)  my name is Simon Tremblay, and i am a student in marketing at college Lionel Grouxl, in Laval/Montreal. And today i want to talk about the influence of Media, and the impact that it has on all of or live, particulary here in canada.

Since i am personnally in marketing, media is something that i am currently studying, and, of course we are encourage to use it to or advantage since it is such a great tool for marketing. Yes, it is true that media is a great way to entertaine people, to let everyone communicate with each other and to keep them informed, But at what price ? This is the Question that i want to bring to you community. Every day we ear from the moment we wake up to the second before we go to sleep, mass media pretty much everywere, specially here in canada/ United states(I assume it is pretty much the same for every moderne country but i never went there myself) Of course media can take different forms, like newspaper, television, radio, postcards, and of course the biggest one in my oppinion internet.

Let's talk a little more about that last one. Internet as developpe with time and is now a very important part of pretty much everyones lives. I am currently 19, and i can tell you that pretty much eveyone i know has a facebook account // or a twitter. People alway use internet, may it be at work, to watch their favorite shows, to shop, to manage their money, to play, etc...   And the list goes on and on and on. Internet has taken a very important part in moderne society and in the media world, and i am sure that the importance of internet is only going to grow with the years to come. Now the question that i want to ask is, since we can do pretty much anything on internet now, and since media is pretty present everywhere on the web, when do we get a break from mass media ?? The truth is, unless you live on a farm ... almost NEVER !  So basicly we are consistantly influence by media trough internet, the radio, television, the newpapers, posters in the streets or on the bus. Basicly media is everywhere, this was my point, so you can imagine the HUGE influence that this has on or daily lives. Basicly mass media is their to make us consume/buy stuff, way, way more then we actually need to. Most of the time we know we shouldn't buy a certain item, but we get tempted by differents stuff, for exemple I-pod, Radio, a new TV, the latest computer, a new pair of skates, etc ... This overconsumation, is in my opinion caused by mass media. That is one of the reason why i dont think media is a good thing.

Also, an other thing that mass media is bad for, is children. Since parents are now always busy with works, children are practicly raised by the TV and their computer. Wich actually almost prematurly makes them want to overconsumate, and when they grow up they are going to want to buy, buy and buy. Even more then people in our current society. This is almost brainwashing people ... not exacly, but still very close to actually brainwashing. THat is why i believe every parents should watch very carefully their children, maybe encourage them into different kind of activity like sports, reading or music, depending on what their children likes. Basicly anything other than just letting them watch television and play computer all day. Because that is just not good for those children. OF course it would be best for everyone if mass media would just disappear, but let's face it, that's not gonna happen. I mean people that could make those kind of decision are just not going to do it since or hole society are based around consumation. SO the best thing to do i think, is to take a break from all this overconsumation crap once in a while by doing something else then just watching TV , playing computer or shopping for that matter, because shopping is also one of the main place where you will be bombarded by mass media.

So anyway guy's, that was my blog/oppinion on mass media. I hope you liked it, this was done for my english class, english not being my main language i appologise for any mystake that i made ^^
